Privacy Policy of Pegboard
Last updated: April 5, 2026
The short version
- Pegboard collects zero personal data — no analytics, no crash reports, no telemetry.
- Pegboard does not communicate with any MonoTools servers. No data you create ever leaves your device.
- Subscription purchases are handled entirely by Apple's StoreKit framework. MonoTools never touches your payment or account information.
- No account, email, or sign-up is ever required to use Pegboard.
- All widget data, settings, and layouts are stored locally on your device.
1. Overview
Pegboard ("the app," "we," "our") is a macOS productivity application developed and published by MonoTools. This Privacy Policy describes how Pegboard handles information in the course of your use of the app.
The core principle of Pegboard's design is that your data belongs to you — and stays with you. The app was built from the ground up to operate entirely on-device, with no servers, no accounts, and no data collection of any kind.
2. Data We Collect
We collect no data.
Pegboard does not collect, store, transmit, or process any personal information. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Identifiers (name, email address, device ID, IP address)
- Usage data (which features you use, how often, for how long)
- Diagnostics (crash logs, performance metrics, error reports)
- Location data
- Contacts or calendar data beyond what is explicitly synced to your local Reminders app
- Any behavioral or analytics data
The app does not embed any third-party analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, or tracking libraries.
3. Network Activity
Pegboard does not communicate with any MonoTools-operated servers. There is no call-home on launch, no remote configuration, no usage reporting, and no license verification against our own infrastructure.
The only network activity the app performs is through Apple's StoreKit framework, which communicates with Apple's servers to handle subscription purchases and receipt validation. This process is entirely managed by Apple — MonoTools does not receive, store, or have access to any payment information or Apple account data. It is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
No data you create or store in Pegboard is ever transmitted over the network.
4. Local Data Storage
All data created within Pegboard — widget settings, layouts, notes, snippets, bookmarks, and app preferences — is stored exclusively in one of the following locations on your device:
- App sandbox container — Pegboard's private directory on your Mac, inaccessible to other apps.
Pegboard uses Apple's EventKit framework to read and write to your system Reminders app for the Todo widget. This access is scoped to the Reminders entries you create within Pegboard. No Reminders data is transmitted outside your device.
5. Permissions
Pegboard may request the following macOS permissions, each of which is optional and used solely for the features described:
- Reminders access — Required for the Todo widget to sync with your system Reminders. No Reminders data is transmitted outside your device.
- File access — Required for the File Link widget and data chart widgets when reading local data files you have selected.
- Notifications — Required for Pomodoro and Countdown alerts, if you enable them.
- Network access — Required by Apple's StoreKit framework to process subscription purchases. Pegboard itself does not use this permission to send any user data over the network.
No permission grants Pegboard access to data beyond the explicit, local functionality described above. Pegboard does not request accessibility permissions, full disk access, camera, microphone, or contacts.
6. Data Exports
Pegboard allows you to export your complete configuration — including layouts, settings, widget data, and
themes — as a .pegboard file. This
file is a plain JSON document stored wherever you choose on your device. MonoTools has no access to this
file.
You can import this file to restore your configuration or transfer it to another Mac. The file never leaves your device unless you explicitly share it.
7. Children's Privacy
Pegboard is a general-purpose productivity application. It does not target children under the age of 13, nor does it collect any information from users of any age. As Pegboard collects no data whatsoever, it inherently complies with COPPA and similar children's privacy regulations.
8. Changes to This Policy
If this Privacy Policy is materially updated, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Given Pegboard's architecture — no servers, no accounts, no data collection — substantive changes to this policy are unlikely.
The current version of this policy is always available at this URL and within the app itself.
9. Your Rights
Because Pegboard collects no personal data, there is nothing held by MonoTools for you to access, correct, export, or delete. All your data resides on your own device, entirely under your control.
To delete all Pegboard data, simply uninstall the app from your Mac and remove its container from ~/Library/Containers/.
